Every October we spend four days on the Upper San Juan. It’s a super casual trip with a bit of whitewater to keep it interesting. The group we go with has the whole thing dialed. We just show up, drop our gear in some rafts, jump on our boards, and get to have a blast!

This year I paddled the Bounce 10’6″ Multi-Purpose (hollow edition) and Erin borrowed a Hala Hoss. There is a lot of flat water on the San Juan, so it’s nice to have a longer board that will paddle easily through those sections, but still be stable enough for some class 2 rapids. I did miss having a shorter board this time around, since there are a couple of rapids that just weren’t surfable on a longer board. Still, we had a great time. Here’s a little video of the trip:

Thx for sharing. Looks great! What reach is this (put in/take out) and what was the flow rate?

We went from Sand Island to Mexican Hat. It was around 800 CFS, but I think we’ve done it as low as 400 CFS.
